>>37781907I understand that, and I'm not arguing that Ash is based off of Gen 1 Red. But the way Sugimori draws LGPE Red reminds me of the way he drew Ash in the ICY poster. Aside from different color jackets and the z's on Ash's cheeks, Sugimori drawings of OG Ash and LGPE Red are very similar to each other.
What if in Sugimori's mind, there's no difference between Ash and Red? They both seem to be happy kids. Sadly, one is doomed to failure because of stubborn Japanese suits while the other is destined for greatness because of player control.
