>>50676325The Pokemon shrinking thing was also posted on a Pokemon Daisuki Club website describing the Pokemon world. Pokemon Daisuki Club first opened in 2004. Professor Westwood, the scientist credited with discovering this facet of Pokemon, exists in the anime as well, so I have no idea why people keep trying to cite it as if it contradicts the shrinking thing. If anything, it contradicts the data storage thing, as Pokemon are always transferred elsewhere in the anime and never "stored" as "data".
With that being said, I find this all to be a very ugly performance. If you stop to think about it for a few seconds, the idea of transforming Pokemon into data is incredibly reducitivist. The Pokemon-to-data theory has so many holes in it, that it's unreal, and the only way to plug up those holes is to once again bring it back around to the technology depending on something unique to the Pokemon's physiology, so it's all a moot point anyway. It's just stubborn westerners digging in their heels. Some of them probably feel personally slighted that they were out of the loop for 25 years. I think that it's unsightly. If there's anyone to be mad at, it's not Game Freak, but Nintendo of America and whoever else is in charge of localizing Pokemon.
