It's like the Hulk vs bees conundrum, minus the ever increasing number of bees. The lions got the numbers, but in power they're nothing compared to the more powerful pokémon. Ghosts won't be harmed, Levitaters stay out of the way, Psychics can mind control them and use them against other lions, and it doesn't matter how many fangs and claws you have if none of them are strong enough to harm rock or metal. Hell, Onix is said to be able to live a millenium before evolving into Steelix (inb4 lel Pokedex), so in the long run pokémon got them beat.
