>The good
Clover is a game set out to celebrate decades of memes and 4chan culture, it does really well, but the game is far from just being a shitpost, it's probably one of the best romhacks I've ever seen, the unique tiles look really good, the fakemon despite being what they are also look really damn good, honestly I really liked some of the fakemon and I feel a few could even pass off as actual Pokemon, and the game is a pretty enjoyable experience up until a certain point, I thought the difficulty in the earlier sections was handled perfectly, the game did force you to change your strategy once in a while, but I didn't consider that a problem since grinding early on wasn't that much of a problem. The music was really good, it's impressive to see how good the standard tracks are or even the memey ones like Baddon's battle theme, I honestly salute the autistic madlads who managed to make all of this work on the GBA.
>The whatever
The game's mapping is alright-ish, some sections like rock tunnel suck dick, but those are thankfully mostly outliers, I loved the whole section admin woods with Sesquatch, scared me shitless for a bit and there's a few other sections that really make this game standout, even some of the cities are pretty memorable like Animango, but the game very much was built on FireRed and you can tell it was thanks to the layout and main progression, the game is set off as a parody so I don't mind and I think it did enough to distinguish itself to the point it doesn't matter. The story is whatever, it's a meme for most of it but I really like the idea of the main legendary having the powers of meme magic, I liked the champion twist and a few other things throughout were also kinda fun.
>The stuff I didn't like
The difficulty shift was about as abrupt and sudden as a train crash, you can exactly pinpoint the moment things hit the shitter and it's Carlitos, technically mons start getting fully EV'd at Lil Bro I think but he's manageable.
