It wasn't in any mainline game for over 5 years, even in the Arceus game where the MCs were wearing ninja-like costumes. Got absolutely cucked in the anime department with a historically humilliating loss and wasn't even used in Ash's biggest tournament ever, literally bending over so Shillcario could get the stardom while they actively retconned its admittedly shitty, but still inmensely popular Anime form. Its special abilities got nerfed. Battle Bond got cucked. Its "mystical ninja shit" HA got nonsensically put onto the two following designated shill starters despite making 0 fucking sense in them almost as if they were meant to be replacements for the frog. Even in sidegames where he was added he seemed to be an afterthought, not even being in the Initial roster in the Pokemon Unite trailers and also being the only Smash 4 Pokemon that didn't make it into Pokken
At this point they realized they can't just get rid of him, so they bring him back to rake extra shekels from its fanbase, but they clearly spite that frog overall. If he were an actual shillmon they wouldn't be trying so hard to cuck it
