The Game, The Anime, The Manga The Merchandise, The Cards, The Community.
For me it was during Gen 3 just before Pokemon Emerald was released.
The Game was perfect. Emerald broke the straw in half there.
The Anime was good nothing too bad to be bad yet, though nothing great either.
The Manga - Has always been (and always will be) great and acceptable
The Merchandise was palatable - just enough to be collectable yet not being overly expensive.
The Community - though we were all starting to show it, we weren't overbearing biting Snobs.
