Tedious to control, and also unnecessary against almost all opponents, with the stronger ones in more recent games having their own EVs anyway. If you’re training a Pokemon in the story it’ll have to get EVs so have fun resetting and optimizing those later for pvp battles

Encourages minmaxing both defensively and offensively, decreasing the diversity of sets and discouraging mixed attackers since you usually only have room to boost one offensive stat, with the rest going to bulk or speed. Meta relevant defensive/offensive spreads are cool and basically the only advantage of the mechanic, but add a time consuming layer to teambuilding I often wish I could bypass. Speed ties would be more common without EVs but this evens out since it’s not like you could ever know the exact speed of your opponents due to EVs, so it’s up to chance either way. Natures serve a lot of the same purpose in a more intuitive and easy way.
