We value social communication, physical appearances, emotional connections, and intimacy. It doesn't all have to be spoken either, sign language works just fine (and would be a great substitute) and actions can work as well for some, but for a long lasting relationship for most people would highly value having that more intimate relationship. Plus most relationships even the rare ones with vulnerable adults at least has the vulnerable individual understanding what the other is saying even if they can't respond.
It would also dangerously be close to pure lust or infatuation, rather than an honest love, which is not what you'd want.
