They get the chance to launch Pokemon on the Switch, build up a playerbase without having to launch a new generation, reintroduce the mechanics and gameplay style on a new console to see what works, lots of possibilities. Hell, maybe in the post-game, you can go to Johto. Or a post game with Ultra Beasts and wormholes.
I feel like the message about "Catching Pokemon will be more like GO" is a false lead. I'm sure there'll be some GO integration, but changing a core mechanic like that doesn't seem like something GF would do. They've tinkered with adding stuff on top of core mechanics, or changing part of how certain mechanics work, but never outright change anything to such a degree that it wouldn't be recognizable from the first two generations.
