The way you obtain the monsters (by excavating and cleaning fossils) is unique and mostly skill based, as opposed to “whittle it down to red hp and chuck balls until it stays”
Unfortunately it’s still easy as fuck (kids game after all) but it’s a legitimately solid monster catcher and is much less luck based than pokemon, which I like.
