>>51567244I'm gonna give this same recommendation every time someone asks what game to do their first Nuzlocke on.
The best answer by a longshot is Picrel, with LeafGreen being the close second.
Now here's why:
>No bullshit: There's no overly-long introduction or mountains of cutscenes, at the outset you can quite literally go from booting up the game to the first rival fight in under a minute.>Not a Glitchy Shitfest with archaic mechanics like Gen 1 (and to a lesser extent, 2), though do be aware that the Physical/Special split has not applied in these games>Relatively easy: Gen 1's remakes are in my opinion the easiest Pokémon games released until X and Y, so a first-tume Nuzlocker can pull it off, probably in their first attempt if they're careful>You Don't Get Punished: I swear on my life, these games never punish you for your mistakes. In my LeafGreen run (my first Nuzlocke, and it was a Hardcore Nuzlocke) I made errors in practically every trainer battle, Rocket battle, and Gym battle that would have easily ended my current Platinum run. For the best example I took on a Double battle that involved a Rapidash and a Ninetales, both of whom outleveled my entire team. I sent out my Ivysaur and a Beedrill. Not one Fire-Type move was used. Still almost wiped cuz those mons have high stats, but no deaths there (optional double battle on Route 16, if you're curious)>Amazing guaranteed Encounters: Lapras for free, Eevee for free, Gyarados before Gym 2, Diglett/Dugtrio guaranteed right outside and Electric Gym, Aerodactyl for free, Tentacruel guaranteed in like 8 routes, just in case you whiff 7 times, Gengar nearly guaranteed. Amazing stuff.>You can't rely on Slowbro/Starmie: Here's why I recommend FireRed over LeafGreen. Each of those two has the potential to solo the Entire League, by themself. Disallowing them (because they're LeafGreen Version Exclusives) I think makes things more fun.>Grinding Is Easy as Fuck: Top of Cycling Road + Vs. Seeker = Profit.
