How would competitive battling work in the context of the Pokemon world?
With how limited a Trainer's options are and factors like friendship and the environment, I figure that each region would develop their own unique 'meta.' So generally, all pro battlers would:
>Catch 7-8 Pokemon to swap out and keep their opponents guessing
>Focus on refining moves instead of catching specific Pokemon
>Stallers and 1 Pokemon sweeping aren't that viable because said Pokemon's stamina is going to dry out after fighting for so long
>Trainers switch out their mons to give them some downtime
>Full team matches, on average, last about 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the tactics used.
Then we'd have regions with their own meats. Obviously, the gimmick regions are focused on making the most out of their gimmick. Like, Kalos trainers would catch multiple Mega evolvable Pokemon to psych out the opponent into guessing, "Which Mega is he going to evolve into?" Alola trainers would focus on perfecting moves that their Pokemon use.
I'm just stuck on how Kanto, Johto, Hoen, Sinnoh and Unova would have their unique Trainer metas.
