>>32615293Well, I read through it. It's not bad, but I felt it pushed the "moral" of the story a bit too strongly. I guess this is just a case of differing viewpoints, but the story seemed more about a child being slowly broken down by the whims of an uncaring psychic god than a comfy adventure. Some of it was nice, and I really liked the parts where the protagonist was interacting with the local mon in a friendly manner, but every interaction with Mew gave me an impression of spite and arrogance. Kendel basically
gives up on his life at the end, not because he'd become content with his new circumstances, but because he'd been beaten down painfully enough that he'd lost all hope. If not for the deus ex machina at the end with the shaymin, it'd be a total downer ending. The lesson he was supposed to learn was apparently "you're ungrateful, so you deserve suffering".All that said, it did keep my attention the whole way through, and though I disagreed with the moral and the writing felt a bit stilted at times, I'd say this was worth reading.
