>>49896736>>49896744The problem with Team Rocket is that all the best stories with them were done like 10-20 years ago, and you can't really do more without it either being retreading old ground (they were getting pretty close with all those mansions James' family had) or just feeling really tacked on. Usually the only other option is to move forward and have them have a developing modern-day goal (which is what keeps Ash engaging even in the seasons where his personality is otherwise flat), but they just don't really bother doing that with Team Rocket. Jessie did contests a few seasons and that worked okay but like halfway through BW it just felt like the writers stopped trying.
This is probably a pretty out-there suggestion, but I always thought it'd be kinda neat if they ever did an arc where Team Rocket captures a 'mon that likes battling, and then they eventually give it to Ash because they want to see it succeed in a league. I guess a little bit like Sandile from BW if he was owned by TR instead of just being a wandering Pokemon.
