>>39490717Tragedy continues with a random Korrina battle almost immediately after Flare's sweep. Her Lucario got a Swords Dance off and tore through the rest. I lost my other starter + higher level back ups, and now the only thing keeping my alive was Croagunk, my favorite Pokemon.
At this point I had to go for an almost complete reset, and would end up losing Goon in Reflection Cave to a spiffy Hawlucha. The fact that I'm still playing is nothing short of a miracle, as I would find out that Sigilyph is incredibly strong at this point in the game. It can set up walls for the frustrating double battles, has a strong typing, and surprisingly bulky. It was the backbone of my team until I got a Nidoking and Mega Lucario.
I might be having a really bad run, but despite the simplicity of Kalos, I feel like it's very momentum based. You're expected to be strong at certain points with surprise battles, but the wild Pokemon and limited trainers don't give you much leverage if you lose heavy hitters. Things would probably be a little more manageable if I didn't run the battle style in Set.
As of now I'm storming Team Flare's power plant, let's see how this goes.
