The Grand Trial was over faster than the normal trial with less effort required due to Ash sweeping Hala and not even making it look cool.
Yeah, things may have technically happened in Sun & Moon, but the way they're presented and then never addressed again makes it feel like absolutely nothing is happening. Especially when you have to get through so much boring filler shit to get there.
Also, you got about Lillie's Shiron, but even that still has barely gone anywhere. Much like the rest of SM's "plot".
Slice of Life Comedy does not mix well with Pokemon. Not as the main focus.
