Ya dude, this shit was all over VP (I think), everyone referred to the pokemon by their japanese names, we waited patiently for full translation which I don't think ever came, and Snivy was the meme pokemon at the time. Besides "Wotter" and how much everyone hated him. Lotsa N shitposting, "Doryuuzu" was worshipped as one of the best pokemon to be added, etc etc. That was like the golden age of pokemon in my personal experience. I haven't had much fun with the community otherwise, but VP was relatively new then
