The ideal Nuzlocke for peak challenge/fun is running a mainline game with the OG 3 rules, Set Mode, general level limit and only bringing the same number of team members to the gym leaders as they have.
Randomizers are based but only if you randomize encounters and not trainers, and remove legendries so it doesn't become "I GOT MEWTWO :O"
Cagelockes are fun as fuck with friends.
