I loved when Ash grabbed May's hand to lead her out of danger. He looked after May and Serena more than Misty and Dawn. He probably knew they needed more protection than the others.

Ash did look out for May and Serena more than the other girls, grabbing their hands and leading them away from danger. But that's probably because May and Serena started off not knowing how to battle or doing anything pokemon related.

I always thought it was interesting how you can tell Ash knows when girls need protection. He did it a few times with Dawn as well.

There were plenty of good episodes. Its true AG was more hit or miss because it still had alot of the filler the plagued Johto, but there were good episodes to make up for it.
