if you look at the icons shown here
http://capx.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Erionall of the menu sprites seem to have it protruding, but those are on a pretty small scale.
in the dropbox, there are no other poses shown than the one we already see, but the picture here (which is not official obviously) also seems to imply protruding head
