XY had at least small character developments.
XY also had really good battles and cutscenes and some dialogue.
XY also had a decent amount of actual story and progression and didn't have an excessive amount of fluff and filler to distract from the main plot.
XY by most anime standards as decent at best and subpar a lot of the times but you have to literally be blinded by salt to think that Sun/Moon's saga is anywhere near the quality of XY. XY was actually entertaining to watch at times. Sun/Moon doesn't even attempt to justify you watching it at all because absolutely nothing fucking happens most of the time. It's like watch a slice of life anime but without any of the character interactions, plot, goals, event or literally anything of substance at all.
This whole saga just feels like a massive fucking filler until the next gen comes out and the last time I've felt that was back when I got half-way through the Black/White saga and realized they were just going to go with the cyclic episode shit until XY came out.
There is almost nothing of value that I can see here as a anime fan or a pokemon fan.
