Think it's just people like animals as they mae sense in a living world, and I was the same as a kid, but growing up my tastes have completely switched, I've in general grown more fond of the odd and unnatural looking pokemon, like yeah could have a dog pokemon, or this weird dumb pair of keys the jiggles it's stolen keys at your foes, in a way they have a little more interesting and I've grown from hating magnemite to finding it kind of cute.
