>>22465185It highly depends on how idealistic/optimistic you see the Pokemon world as. The worldview that is given to us by the games display a mutual cooperative society where Pokemon do enjoy battling and growing stronger alongside humans.
I'm not sure where I heard this, but I remember reading somewhere that Wild Pokemon only attack you because they want to impress you to catch them. Which does hold a modicum of sense - why attack someone that can potentially enslave you when you can just run and hide?
Of course, if you read the games as a more cynical sort of story, then it's wholly possible that humans are deliberately seeking out and enslaving Pokemon with the use of technology, whether or not the trainers are aware of that. There was a really good Scyther story that explored that concept.
In the end, it depends on how -you- see the world of Pokemon. A world half full or half empty.
