>>38731134the first two dexes sucked ass, but with gen 3, they finally started finding an aesthetic of their own instead of rehashing dragon quest's monsters. to me, monster design is the one aspect of the franchise that has consistently improved over the years. everything else has gone to shit, but gens 6 and 7 have introduced a lot of my current favorite pokemon, and i'm sure gen 8 will do the same. sure, there's still some misses, such as decidueye, but it's way better on average than the kanto and johto days.
digimon's aesthetic is still better, though.
