>>43853061I feel like we're digressing and starting to talk more about competitive (which means fuck shit on this topic), but:
DESU, Feraligatr w/ Surf in gen 2 was just as effective as any other water type
Sure, the move was weaker due to stats, but still effect nonetheless. Name me a pokemon with a higher water special stat, and guess what? Both it and Feraligar will still one-shot their targets, because it turns out this franchise, whether we like it or not, was based around little kids fucking around and "catching 'em all."
The PSS shitters mean nothing. Their arguments hold no merit because the mechanic is useless in casual play, and any hack that tries to implement it and expect the game to play any different is likewise sorely mistaken.
When I jumped from gen 3 to gen 4 as a brainlet child this was my fucking thought process:
Gen 3:
>Haha I use attack that does big damage and does special sound effectGen 4:
>Haha I use attack that does big damage and does special sound effectIt literally makes no difference. In fact, pokemon INTENTIONALLY learn moves that benefit their stat later in the game anyway, making it doubly useless to really harp on the mechanic without bringing up competitive, which has no bearing on the discussion except for some (right) anons to simply show a picture of OU Gengar to prove their fucking point.
