Ash always wanted to be the very best, in the end if he accomplishes his dream, we need a new vestal for a new audience to project on. Don't outright replace Ash with a generic newcomer, just expand the roster and change up the role dynamic between Ash and leagues.
That or if your cheap:
1. Rewrite the story. Sure, Ash won in 1 region and needs to win new regions to be the very best!
