>>29560020Well for one it's not actually realistic and looks retarded. Most of the redesigns are like that, just forcing a Pokemon into an animal that already exists, but doing it in a way that invalidates its own realism.
I get that the point is to make Pokemon into living creatures that could potentially exist, but I also think that point is stupid. Some Pokemon simply aren't living things, or don't work as living things, so trying to force them into that box is dumb and annoying. Not to mention it looks fucking terrible and only resembles what it's supposed to be on the most superficial level, and that only if you squint really hard.
Trying to force fantastic elements to be entirely mundane is foolhardy when the entire setting functions on magic, especially when the solution is to make the Pokemon only in appearance while abandoning their functions. Why would you bother making a setting with literal ghosts and psychic powers realistic, when that requires tossing out those things? It's creatively bankrupt to force things into these little boxes of things that already exist when there's so much more opportunity in exploring fantastic biology or things that could exist.
See, the thing he's doing is not actually making things that COULD exist. He's pidgeoholing Pokemon into animals that ALREADY exist. Dragonite is just a big salamander instead of a realistic depiction of a dragon, because obviously dragons don't exist so that means a large winged reptilian creature CAN'T exist. Gastly is a bat, because bats are real and nothing in the real world floats and produces poisonous gas so obviously that can't exist. Honedge must be a bug that resembles a sword because bugs exists and obviously tools users and biological processes capable of producing metals are un fucking heard of.
He's a hack.
