With the following Pokémon, there was a lot of different flavor text depending on variables like your location, which Pokémon you had out and the condition of it, and so forth. You just need some imagination to picture the described scenario in your head and a lot more can happen than with the Amie system.
To make the Amie satisfactory would require far more animation work than feasibly possible because every Pokémon would need different animations for all the different things they can do with flavor text, like staring at sunsets, rolling rocks around, being cold, being alert and on guard, having found items and everything else.
