Kek if anything, multiplayer is going to be even MORE centralized among a select few. People use OU mons because they're VERSATILE, not just because they're strong. Many top OU mons can be outdone by mons considered to be mediocre, but only in very specific situations that renders them impractical. Genies of healthy meta is a shitpost but honestly, having Landorus-T as the common anchor was good in the long run. It was a solid core to build teams around and in response to, and honed the metagame into one that relied on skill and mindgames rather than just praying that your team countered the other. Even from a single-player standpoint, having a true balance among all mons is detrimental, because that would even further incentivize just catching a few mons at the start and letting them carry you through the whole game. That already happens, bu at least now, generally, you're supposed to swap out weaker mons for later, stronger mons as you progress. If everything's a shitmon, then where's the satisfaction of delving into a deep, dark cave in search for a rare and powerful creature?
