I might not like certain characters but I feel as if bashing’s always in poor taste, like I’m reading a Naruto fanfic or something.I've just seen some people really hate Ruby, and since 10 year olds still exist in 2025, some are still immature enough to be into bashing stuff. To be fair reading Pokespecial's ORAS arc is an exercise in extreme patience at best and actual torture at worst, so a lot of people hate it, then attribute all its shittiness to its protag Ruby himself. I don't though, if anything I think he almost feels OOC in that arc, same with Sapphire. And most of the true vision for their relationship clearly played out back in the Emerald arc anyway.
Kusaka has also said in the past he hated writing remake arcs, probably since Pokespecial doesn't have reboots and (at least in the past) nearly EVERYTHING TPC shits out end up in the same Pokespecial continuity, which was both a strength and a weakness. Since with remake arcs, he's forced to drudge up existing characters and force them to enact TPC's game feature shilling checklist even if it contradicts their personalities (see
Ruby in ORAS somehow bonding with Latios for the first time in 5 seconds enough to mega evolve it just so TPC can get "le manga version of ORAS Brendan" to shill the new ORAS mirage spot soaring mechanic, when Ruby's whole issue previously was how his shit personality made it hard for him to connect with others to the point even random Pokemon sometimes try to beat the shit out of him, even his own universe thinks he sucks), instead of Kusaka having the freedom to come up with new characters to do that stuff instead like he can with non-remake game story arcs
