>>43184435The entire line is based off of radar, with geometric shapes being a big part of the design. The eyes perfectly represent a bug's eyes while doubling as glasses. I admit the hard-lined "shading" looks dumb but that's less of a design fault and more of a model thing.
It's shaped like basically every other worm, the only difference is the big exaggerated head. You can shit on it if you want but that's literally the point, which becomes especially obvious with Orbeetle.
Yellow/Dark Blue looks fine to me. It's actually a really appealing set of near-complementary colors. The one thing is that the eyes are a little too light but it's not that bad. Also ladybug larvae literally have these colors. I honestly never noticed the eyebrows but they might be foreshadowing to how the head literally "pops out." Plus the expression would be too cold without them. I like the mouth.
It's not supposed to be a scientist, it's supposed to be a nerd, a literal bookworm. It eventually evolves into a mad scientist. I don't get how you can hate on this concept when there's other bug larvae like Caterpie that are pretty much just a cartoony swallowtail.
I think the design is thematically cohesive and works well as a cute little nerd bug. It's at least on par with Scatterbug which has everything you complained about but never gets shit for it. I admit the long head is weird but I can't shit on it if that's literally the point. Do you really expect a nerd/mad scientist pokemon to look normal or beautiful? And I know someone's gonna respond with >IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE UGLY and you have a weird bar for ugly.
