Months ago I went to visit some relatives who have a little girl, around 4-5 years old. I had my 3DS and she wanted to play it but since the game is way too compelx for her, I just went to the PC boxes, picked a Pikachu and started Pokémon Amie.
The girl recognized Pikachu and Pikachu only, she loved that Pikachu said his name, and she spent hours talking to it, making faces, giving him Puffs to eat, petting him, doing the minigames, all that shit.
I instantly realised how intelligent was GameFreak handling this and giving Pikachu his anime voice. Amie and Pikachu are directly aimed to little kids, which can become pokémon fans in the future.
