Anyone can hit a button saying they'd fuck a Plusle or a Zangoose, but if that idle click is as far as their interest goes I don't think it's very meaningful.
If a person cares enough to draw or write a story about a Pokemon on the other hand I think that carries a lot of weight in terms of expressing their desire. Even if the result is very poorly made it takes quite a bit of impetus to take the time to sit down and make something about a Pokemon you find sexy.
It's also more accurate in the sense that one person who really likes Gardevoir can draw 100 pictures and be counted 100 times, but in just a flat poll they get the same 1 vote as everyone else.
