I started with gen 1 back in 97, Pokemon is what got me into videogames, I didn't even know mario or sonic, or anyone other then pikachu until I got smash because Pikachu was on the cover. Gen 2 was originally my favorite because of all the new stuff, and Spinarak.
To this day Gen IV and V will remain my comfort zone with pokemon. I loved fooling around in Sinnoh in D/P, and then Platinum came and made it even better, balanced it out, added some neat stuff. Sinnoh was chock full of lore. Then HG/SS were announced as remakes of my original favorite gen, with all the added extras AND gen 4 pokemon.
Gen 4 Had Platinum and HGSS. Two games I really really enjoyed.
When Gen 5 came along i though I could never like it, "Really? gods beyond arceus, 4 shouldve been the end" But then as we got leaks. Cofagrigus, Golurk, Fucking chandelure, galvantula, Lilligant, Escavalier. It slowly became my new favorite dex and generation. and like D/P, B2W2 only made it even better.
....Then came Gen 6. Oh boy, Gen 6. I can't say I've ever been so disappointed in my life. The transition to 3D was poor as a selling point, The dex had very little that was appealing, Doublade, Malamar, maybe Dragalge? The region was tedious to navigate, and the evil team was fucking stupid.
And then OR/AS got announced, which was neat, but they fucked THAT up with time/space anomalies and multi universe shit that didnt even need to be.
So.. I want to be hyped for Gen 7. But honestly? It's gotta pull stops like 5 to convince me. At this point I'm more excited for Pokemon sage then any REAL pokemon game.
