CGE continues to be an enigma in my book. I still have a hard time believing anyone could write a story like Eternally Vernal or Diaphanous Perception and not be at least somewhat aware of what can be considered wrong with shamelessly peddling themes of rape/slavery acceptance as feel good fluff. Of course he would be in favor of explaining away the intricacies of the Pokemon universe as incomprehensible bits of fantasy and magical byproducts, it lets him get away with treating his Pokemon characters like living plot devices instead of rationally thinking, fully fleshed out individuals. I see plenty of parallels to Vile Slanders when reading some of CGE's work- both individuals are exceptional writers who, regardless of whether they consciously decide to do so, seem to prioritize pushing an agenda in their writing over creating a compelling fictional world that makes any logical sense.
That being said, I agree that it's a little too easy to condemn an author's entire work over a few bad apples, and despite these overarching plot/lore issues I still enjoyed many of cge's stories such as Nor Gloom of Night and Waterlogged. There's plenty of great dialogue, quality writing and entertaining plot developments that work well as long as you don't try to analyze the lore of the world too hard.
This isn't going to stop me considering it laughably stupid for any author to seriously include something like the four moveset limit in a fanfiction.
