I didn't realize they were games until Ruby and Sapphire came out when I was like 10 or 11, at which point I said "wow the new Pokemon look like crap" like a little underage shit and went and bought Silver to start with instead. It blew my mind when the postgame went to "where the anime takes place".
But, to be fair, the only RS Pokemon I saw were Groudon, Kyogre, Solrock, Lunatone, and Seedot, and Seedot's the only good one of those.
