They just want to play the game and update the wiki whenever like Marriland does. They know Joe will rush it all out there the moment he gets his copy of the game so why should they even try to compete. You've seen how badly they fuck up when they try to break any news before the other sites.
And I remember the posts from Pomfret where he rants about how much it pisses him off that people expect Serebii to be the first to come out with the news but I think they've learned their lesson since then.
Color me surprised if locking editing actually allows them to edit the info really fast, we've seen it in the past; it doesn't.
