>>43959516A lot actually. My cast is all NPCs from a PTU game I’m gonna run and I’ve been working out how Iola factors into the arc. For context she’s the 7th gym leader and has issues about wanting to live up to her family’s success. I’m thinking of introducing her as a late-game minor rival who the player(s) clash with, culminating in her gym battle.

Gets shaken after loosing, but compliments the party and hurries off.>Players continue traveling to the 7th city and encounter her a few more times. Each time she looses she gets progressively more frustrated anxious, but never spiteful of the players.>Players make it to the city and find the Nonpareil (champion/E4 equivalent) and Iola’s dad (8th gym leader & former Nonpariel) and visiting.>Iola knew the party was going to her gym next and that her dad would be visiting, and thinks that loosing to the players would disappoint her father. Players makes it to the gym and it’s revealed that Iola is the leader. >Boss theme: https://youtu.be/jv1yYDzvFtQ>Iola gives it her all, frantic and desperate to win, but looses. She gives her badge and compliments the party but can keep her emotions in, and immediately runs off before she breaks down.>If the party goes after, depending on what the want to do and what they RP, she can either open up and become an NPC they befriend or just let her sulk. Or torment her about it, my friends are kinda fucked up.That’s about all the relevance she has in the main plot. Maybe if the befriend her she can be used in a sidequest but most of her involvement is restricted to occasional interruptions and her gym battle, sorta like how rivals work. She’s one of the more involved gym leaders but she’s still a minor character.
