>>54402324I forgot to respond to your comment on the arcane type as well. I think what you're saying is that it doesn't make sense since there's no coherent design principle and you can't picture a Pokémon that would fit that type? Well look at Pokemon who are Ghost or Dragon -- they've really stretched the definition of those two types to include things that aren't just ghosts or dragons. So I would picture it kind of working in that fashion, where we get "magical" Pokemon who are this new type just because it's the best fit or really sells their powerful mastery of elements. It wouldn't be a common type for sure, and I think like Dragon or Ghost it would be less about "it's a literal this" and more "it has this power we can't quite describe." Fairy would still be around for Pokemon that are nature spirits/mischievous and Psychic is still cosmic/esper things, this just becomes the type for Pokemon that are not quite either of those but still really strong and magical. I know it's not the best defined type, but Fairy and Psychic have become catch-all types for a lot of Pokémon that they don't quite know what to type but they know they don't want to be Normal. So, why not introduce a new type that straddles that line? For ex, Sigilyph doesn't scream "Psychic" to me but what else would you make it? Arcane could work, matching its "ancient and mysterious" power
