As someone who is trans and has severe body image issues outside of just gender dysphoria, this update has only made me feel horrible.
I totally get that this update was aimed at introducing more inclusive body types, but I feel like it has only done the opposite. This update has forced broader shoulders onto my avatar (even with the "shoulder" and "muscle" sliders both at the lowest setting), and has also forced onto me larger hands, a pointier face, a lighter skin tone, ashier hair, a crooked neck, and MANY other issues.
Potentially the worst thing about this update is how they seemed to have gone back and edited some of the clothing options. For example, the level 50 jacket used to have a shorter or longer undershirt depending on if your avatar was the feminine or masculine body type, with the shorter one appearing tucked-in with certain bottom pieces. With the removal of the strict femme/masc body option (which may be rooted in good intentions) has removed the feminine version of the level 50 jacket, forcing the masculine version of the item onto my avatar, accomplishing the exact opposite of inclusivity. This is by no means acceptable - especially with such a difficult-to-obtain avatar item. They have also made certain items larger/smaller, duller/grainier colors, and MANY more issues.
The avatar update, as it stands, is a severe net negative. The plus-sized body types and the extra hairstyles are fantastic, but everything else sucks. The cons FAR outweigh the pros here. I sincerely hope that this update is reverted until they either overhaul the update or start from scratch with a whole new avatar update.
