In a pre-release article about Wario Land: Shake It in a 2008 issue of the Japanese Famitsu magazine, Captain Syrup’s name is given as “メイプル“ (”Meipuru”), a transliteration of the English “Maple”. As it can be assumed that “Syrup” is her last name, as it is usually a person’s last name that is paired up with a title like “Captain”, then “Maple” could have been intended to be her first name, making her full name “Captain Maple Syrup”.
