Boys with Pokemon in elementary school didn't care about me too much and only did allow me to watch them playing, we didn't trade.

What's with Kalos gym leaders / important characters / Maison partners having retarded movesets?

I distinctly remember in BW2 that most gym leaders and other opponents had pretty decent movesets with good STAB moves and items and actually using four moveslots.
