The first movie was average at best (its only elevated by its supplimentary material, and the Mew origin movies didn't come out in the west for some fucking reason). Second movie wasn't that great either but its carried by its spectacle. I think the 3rd movie with Entei is easilly the best of the originals and is problably the closest the Pokemon anime movies have come to being "real movie" set in the Pokemon world instead of just an overglorified way to sell merchandise.
the 5th movie felt like the last time they at least tried to make a real movie even if they still failed. From the 6th movie, Jirachi Wishmaker and onwards its clear they stopped giving a shit and the overall quality of the animation is considerably worse.
