I’ll say the second half of DP is miles better than anything in the first half of DP. The second half of DP, being Hearthome Gym and beyond, is the XY&Z of that series. It’s literally everything you would ever want out of a Pokémon anime besides Ash winning the League, and even then he made it to the Semifinals, losing to a team of legendaries. Like Brock said, this was the furthest Ash has ever made it at that point and he should be praised.

If you’re gonna have majority of the battles be 1v1, at least add some strategy to them. Most of the battles are just brute forced, off screen, or played as gags which isn’t how a League should be treated. I really dislike the concept of a League where anyone can join regardless of their status, and battles not being taken seriously. But I’m Sinnoh rewatch anon who couldn’t care less about Alola so whatever.
