I think its less big, but due to packing it's locations closer together than spreading them out, like Johto and to a lesser extent, Unova. Where we're left having explored 90% of the place and having a good idea of what the entire region is
I dunno about Kalos being Sinnoh's size, I think the terrible map is just messing people up. All the locations feel real close as pretty much none of the routes are long. I didnt find Kalos big.
