We can see this in the layout of her Gym which is an obvious call back to the layout of the Saffron Gym as well as he change in appearance being a call back to the Dex entries for Kadabra in which a youth with high Psychic abilities can change shape into a Pokemon. Sadly, GF deemed the concept of a Cosmic type a bit too hard to fit into the existing lore so she got changed to Fairy despite the city she's in having no connection to the type whatsoever as well as Olympia and the Anistar Gym hastily changed to Psychic Type.
