i had just moved, and i had no friends in this new place. the first people who befriended me talked about pokemon nonstop and that got me to try it because i had just gotten my first video games and it sounded interesting. another friend left silver at my house, and me being the dumb kid that i was, started a new file and saved. i was instantly hooked. later that week i bought leafgreen and emerald and then i was a fan for life
only one of them still likes pokemon and only two of them still play vidya ;_;
