Just beat Wattson, with the incredible strategy of "Use Power-Up Punch with an electric resistant Pokemon until I win." It worked like a charm, but unfortunately I ended up losing Electrike to Brendan's Wailmer because I underestimated it's strength as much as I overestimated Electrike's bulk. Even more unfortunately, because I haven't played this game since it came out I forgot Power-Up punch was available this early until I had already saddled my Vigoroth with Rock Smash.
