I really, really don't understand people saying that ruby sapphire emerald got them tired of pokemon, instead of gen 2, where literally half the game was copied from kanto. At least hoenn was an entirely new place, and the battle frontier in emerald is by far the best post game area in a pokemon game yet (all that variety in challenges for the battle facilities). They added a huge feature: abilities, as well as contests, and gym leader rematches. The music was great, the story was actually decent for once, the art style looks the best out of any game so far and holds up today (which is why I don't want remakes), and Steven kicked ass with metagross. Very fun games.
