>>55763376Originally planned on using a Xatu on my Crystal team, but since I wouldn't have access to it for a while, I decided I'd use Togepi in the meantime and box it later. The first battle I used him in, he metronome'd into Sacred Fire against a Hoppip, and then Solarbeam on a Geodude. More metronome hilarity ensued, and I decided to keep him around longer and name him "Luckie".
Raising him was a pain in the ass, since Luckie was stuck with metronome and fly until I got the Psychic TM in Saffron, but it was worth it. Also found out that he had HP Ice, so between that, Psychic and Fire Blast, Lil' Nigga has pretty good coverage. I ended up completely forgetting about Xatu until I was at the 8th gym, and at that point I just decided to make Luckie a full-time member. He's definitely earned his name since I managed to find a shiny Golduck, a shiny Onix and catch PokeRus in the span of a week while training the team to lv 100.
Don't care if Luckie's a shitmon by gen 2 standards, I'd bench my starter before I benched him.
